Although I still often think about the beautiful red leaves of Autumn in Montreal, the cold eastern breeze, and the centuries-old stone buildings of McGill University, I also have to say - what a good year to be in Victoria! Right now I'm sitting in my Political Theory 202 lecture, once again barely listening to the professor as he drones on and on about the Franco-Prussian War, and my mind is wandering. Something much more exciting than the consolidation of the Ottoman Empire's power is happening right now on the Island. What is it? The running of the Olympic Torch! That's right ladies and gentlemen, the Olympic torch is going to light Victoria's "cauldron" or whatever, tonight in front of BC's Legislature! And I'm hoping to go! Additionally, our prime minister Stephen Harper is here, so that's exciting too! Also I'm going costume shopping today. I'll try to resist dragging my poor male companion to all the shops downtown that have no relation whatsoever to Halloween, but I make no promises. I said try. I still really want snakeskin leggings. Too bad there is no Zaras in Vic.

Sara is here in one week!! I am soo excited to see my little swiss girl! :D She'll be here until the 14th and I've already promised that we'll go shopping in Vancouver during her stay. Can't wait!

Okay, my professor is talking about some man named John Gray and his critiques of Liberalism and Communism so I better pay attention.

I am on the lookout for snake skin tights!

why are you wearing legwarmers on your arms?

photos from felicia frithiof

I'm really excited to see that one of my random ideas is in line with what other bloggers are doing. I thought it would be interesting to wear my leg warmers on my hands, and looking through felicia's blog I see that she thinks the same!

Unfortunately Victoria does not have its own Fashion Week, but other major cities just did and let's just say - I am green with envy of all those who attended. Can't wait until next year when I can go to Montreal's! Here's a link to a photo collection from the different ready-to-wear events. The mini-shoot was done by the always amazing, Tommy Ton, photographer and fellow blogger. You'll find a link to his blog, jak&jill, on the left.

Although I have been for quite some time hoping to move on from this very hardcore look (I bought my iron chain handled bag way back in December - and during Christmas break Natalie definitely thought I was dressing a little scary), I find myself being sucked back in..

In some blog related news, ad idem has received over 1,000 individual visitors from Canada - something we are very excited about, and well over 5,000 total page hits! We've been viewed by over 30 different countries from all over the world including Australia, Sweden, Russia, Japan, and Brazil and some even as obscure as Indonesia, Belarus, and Pakistan. As well, coming up very soon is our 100th post! Natalie and I are hoping to do something special with that, but it may take a while, so unfortunately, ad idem is officially on hiatus until after Thanksgiving.

We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday, and you'll be hearing from us soon!

Hi! I'm Jill, and I’m a friend of Tamara’s, well we’re more like sisters but that’s beside the point. Anyway, she asked me to do a guest post on her blog, and hopefully a few more in the future. Of course I was all for it, I love ad idem. So let’s just get right on to the good stuff.....

I’d probably describe my style as comfortable, simplistic and casual, with just a hint of an eclectic and vintagey tone. A basic outfit for me is a loose fitting tee (dark green being my favourite) skinny jeans or leggings, and a pair of moccasin flats. I usually finish off my look with an interesting highlight – most times a funky piece of jewellery (my mom makes jewellery as a hobby so I get to showcase it all for free =) and some sort of jacket or sweater.

Much of my inspiration for the past couple of months has been coming from blogs similar to ad idem such as this time tomorrow, lions tigers&fashion oh my , cupcakesandcashmere, elenita, and lovemaegan.

All these blogs are very great and encourage me to be much more creative when making my own looks. But I have to say, my ultimate source of inspiration has to be from the television show, Sex and the City. Although I did not agree with all of Carrie’s outrageous outfits, 90% of the time I was in love.

Here's a picture from my current wardrobe.

1.Black leggings, denim leggings, denim cut offs, silver-lace pencil skirt, green ruffled flats, beaded wrist cuff, bead bracelet, black tassel earrings (DIY..instructions from lovemaegan), loose fitting tops, peacock-patterned cardigan, & moccasin flats

along with my dog Holly =) The sweater today has angora in it.. so soft =)
